Glendale Chocolate Affaire 2015 Preview
January 26, 2015 12:24 PM Posted by juliannadouglas
This coming weekend, Friday and Saturday, January 30-31, 2015, I'll be signing my books in the romance authors' booth at the Glendale Chocolate Affaire. This annual event is being held a little earlier than usual this year to coincide with the Super Bowl that our neighboring city of Glendale is also hosting, so mark your calendars. Parking and admission to the event are free. It's held in Murphy Park in the heart of historic downtown Glendale, located at 58th and Glendale Avenues. There's always lots of food (including my favorite... chocolate :-)), craft booths, shopping, live music, activities for the kids, and much, much more. This year they also have a brand new Super Bowl themed attraction called “Super Street.” The Chocolate Affaire is lots of fun for the whole family, so if you're visiting the area or live nearby, come on down and check it out.

November 2014 Book of the Month & Giveaway

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season filled with fun and laughter. The holidays are always an insanely busy time for me, so some things inevitably end up on the back burner. That being the case, I've fallen way behind on doing my Book of the Month feature, so now I'm playing catch-up.
My favorite 5-star read in November was a sweetly emotional historical romance from a beloved author who's been around for a very long time. It's a story of two people who meet in the middle of a nasty snowstorm when his carriage accidentally causes hers to skid off the road into a snowbank. At first, their personalities clash, but spending so much time alone together makes them see the good in each other and realize just how attractive the other one is. They share an unforgettable night of passion and then go their separate ways, but neither can quite forget the other. When fate conspires to bring them back together over and over again, our intrepid hero begins to persistently press his suit, while our reluctant heroine keeps her distance, thinking there can never be a future between them because of questionable things in her past.

Since Nathan Fillion was my pick for Hump Day Hunk this week, this seemed an entirely appropriate choice for my Friday Funny. The picture and quote are from one of my favorite Firefly episodes "Our Mrs. Reynolds." Hope it give you a laugh.

Hump Day Hunks -- Nathan Fillion
January 7, 2015 06:36 PM Posted by juliannadouglas
I've been a fan of today's Hump Day Hunk since he played Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live. It's been years since I watched that soap, but I seem to recall the character being charming, intrepid, and incorrigible, not unlike his portrayer appears to be in real life. From there, he went on to play a number of different characters, including the evil priest, Caleb, on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This brought him to the attention of the show's creator, Joss Whedon, who later cast him as the roguish and somewhat tortured space cowboy/ship's captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly, a role which he later reprised in the feature film, Serenity, and which earned him a cult fan following among Browncoats (fans of the show). From there, he played a variety of smaller but memorable roles such as Dr. Jim Pomatter in the indie film, Waitress, Dr. Adam Mayfair on Deperate Housewives, and Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. In 2009, he landed the title role of another roguish and charming character, mystery writer Richard Castle on the crime drama, Castle, which is still currently airing new episodes.
