Due to the busy nature of the holidays, I fell behind on my Book of the Month posts, so I'm excited to finally bring you some new reading recommendations. November was an excellent reading month for me. Four out of the five books I read that month ended up receiving five stars from me. That must be some kind of record.:-) I had a hard time deciding which one to highlight as my book of the month, but since my focus as both a reader and a writer is romance, I ultimately decided on the only one that was actually a romance novel. It's the second in a series that isn't quite like anything I've ever read before. It's kind of a family saga, except in this case, the family is a band of three brothers who grew up together in foster care and are unrelated by blood. In their case, though, they couldn't be closer if they were blood brothers. They were all abused, both in their foster home and before by their blood families, so they made a commitment to always look out for one another.

Interview with Debra Anastasia & Giveaway

If you've been following my blog, then you'll know that I chose Debra Anastasia's Poughkeepsie as my first Book of the Month pick a couple of weeks ago. (If you haven't, you can still read my Book of the Month write-up on it and my review of the book.) Well, word of this got back to Debra via social media. As it turns out, she's a generous person who is very supportive of both her fans and her fellow indie authors. After exchanging a few pleasantries online, I was very excited when she agreed to an interview for my blog. Debra also offered to do a giveaway for an eBook set of Poughkeepsie and Return to Poughkeepsie, the first two books in her Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. June 2014 Book of the Month & Giveaway

Before becoming a writer, I was a reader. Even though I'm very busy with writing now, I still carve out time for reading every day. I've been an avid reader for most of my life, which is probably why I started my own book review site six years ago. When I find a wonderful book that I enjoy, I just love to spread the word about it. I'm always eager to promote my fellow authors who, in my estimation, are doing an excellent job. That's why I've decided to start my own little version of the Book of the Month club here on my blog. Each month, I'm going to choose the best book I read during the previous month, highlight it with a review, and give away a copy to one lucky reader. I've fallen a bit behind on writing, editing, and posting my reviews over the past couple of months, so the first entry in my Book of the Month club is from my June reading and therefore a bit tardy. In future, I hope to stay a little more up to date on this column, but my June pick was simply so awesome, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pass along the recommendation.
