July 2014 Book of the Month & Giveaway

It's time for my second Book of the Month pick. In case you missed the first one, I'll reiterate just a bit what I'm doing. In honor of my lifetime love of reading and to give credit to my fellow authors who in my estimation are very talented at their craft, each month I'll be choosing the best book I read the previous month and highlighting it with a feature, a review, and a giveaway. I'm still a little behind on getting my reviews posted, so this is my pick for the month of July.
This book is actually a novella. It features an already married hero and heroine who are over the age of forty, both of which seem to be rarities in romance. As someone who recently celebrated my own twentieth anniversary, I could totally relate to the main couple. They still love each other deeply, but have fallen into a comfortable routine throughout the years that doesn't include much romance or passion. Now that their kids are out of the house and away at college, the hero plans an incredibly romantic weekend to celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary in which he treats his heroine to a repeat of all their important firsts: first date, first kiss, first time making love, etc. All I can say is the things they did would be an unbelievably awesome way to spend my twenty-fifth anniversary. (Honey are you reading this?:-)) It can also be difficult for an author to create a complete and satisfying story in a shorter format like this, but I can honestly say the author did an amazing job with this one. Our couple's love for one another was evident in their every interaction, and they proved beyond a doubt that passion still exists for long-time-married, middle-aged folks.;-) That's why I'm naming Mari Carr's Do Over as my July Book of the Month. If you haven't read this book yet, you owe it to yourself to give it a try, especially if you're in the same demographic as me. Keep reading to learn how you can win a copy for your own library.
Cover Blurb Sometimes once is not enough... Each stop on their tour becomes an opportunity for Faith and Troy to rediscover how explosive their passion can be. |
Now Faith knows exactly what she's going to do—Troy, over and over again...
Warning: This story contains explicit language and sexual content, including mildly dominating behavior, light bondage, and anal play, but in my opinion everything was very tastefully done to the point that it barely even felt like an erotic romance, more like an ultra-steamy one.
